Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a manual system of diagnosis and treatment that aims to improve the physical functioning of the body. It aims to increase the mobility of the joints, release excessive tension in the muscles and to promote improved posture. This can reduce pain, increase comfort and make it easier to get on with life.

Osteopathy recognises the wholeness of the human body, so any problem areas are seen in the context of the body as a whole, and treatment is provided wherever it is needed. It employs a wide range of hands on techniques, including massage, joint stretching, mobilisation and manipulation.

The osteopath will often advise exercises to compliment the treatment provided. There may also be advice on: ergonomics (such as workstation set up and how to choose a bed, mattress and pillow) and how to look after yourself in situations such as work, playing sport, diy and gardening.

Our goal is to provide the maximum therapeutic benefit as gently as we can. Osteopathy is ideal for the treatment of back pain and many other muscle and joint problems.
